Halloween 2015
It's no secret... I'm kinda obsessed with Halloween. I collect costume ideas throughout the year and begin to narrow it down around September. This year, I wanted to try my hand at SFX makeup, so I was on the search for the perfect blood and gore costume.
Once I found Bonnie Corban's online tutorials, I was smitten. I followed her instructions to create 1) a masquerade face mask and 2) a facial prosthetic + gore makeup.
The masquerade flesh masks after applying scar wax, faux blood, and wood staples.
I started with a fresh face and a black lace dress. Then, I caked on my makeup with a heavy hand. I wanted to have some sort of barrier between the faux blood and my skin, so a few heavy coats of foundation and contouring shades seemed like a good plan of action. I teased my hair to infinity & beyond, then started the fun part... the gore!
My eerie/elegant dress. I borrowed a slip from my mom so it wouldn't be too scandalous.
Heavy-handed contouring. Now I know what it feels like to be a Kardashian.
The final product. Perfection.
Detail shot. I was really pleased with the depth in the prosthetic. Just look at those torn flesh flaps! A+
My face under natural light. It holds up pretty well.
Step 1, Step 2, Step 3.
Needless to say, we were the belles of the ball on Halloween night.
...Happy Halloween!
